Privacy-minimised first-party measurement

The site measures page views, searches, clicks on records, candidate products and sources, and reading depth using a pseudonymous session. Raw search terms, IP addresses, user-agent strings and email addresses are not stored in the site analytics table. This first-party data supports the product, search and reading funnel.

02

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity

Only after a visitor allows external analytics, Google Analytics 4 measures acquisition source, country, device, landing page and return visits, while Microsoft Clarity provides heatmaps and session interaction recordings. Advertising storage, Google signals and ad personalisation remain disabled. The site does not send form-entry content as an analytics event to Clarity. Neither service loads before consent, and the choice can be changed later.

03

Retention and opt-out

First-party events older than 90 days are excluded from reporting and physically purged on the next successful analytics write or owner analytics read. Google Analytics and Clarity data follows each provider's configured retention and deletion controls. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track take priority; first-party measurement and external analytics can be switched off separately.

04

Settings stored only in this browser

localStorage holds up to 50 saved internal paths, titles and timestamps, up to six recent records, text size, focus mode, the first-party measurement preference and the external-analytics consent choice. Saved records and display settings are not synced to the site server. Clearing site data removes them.

05

Authentication and hosting

The hosting service delivers public pages and authenticates owner-only administration. Its provider may separately handle cookies or connection logs needed for security and incident response; those records are not part of this site’s analytics-event table. The pseudonymous session ID is held per tab in sessionStorage and disappears when the tab closes.

06

External providers and sites

When external analytics is allowed, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity apply their processing terms. Opening a source or retailer applies that destination’s privacy policy. This site does not sell personal information and uses no ad pixels, social tracking tags or third-party advertising.

07

Participation and contact

Posting, voting and account sync remain disabled. Correction, rights and accessibility enquiries use the public email channel; messages follow the email provider’s policy and are not stored in the site analytics database. Material policy changes will be dated and explained here.
